Hillsboro Medical Center Foundation manages funds to support the ongoing need for medical and health education projects and programs that advance our community’s physical and mental quality of life. With your support, we are changing and saving lives every day. Your gift may be designated towards any of the funds below:
Greatest Need
The Greatest Need Fund allows for the most flexible utilization of your donations. This fund supports the priority needs of Hillsboro Medical Center including facilities, equipment, and programs.
Emergency Department Compassion Closet
The Emergency Department Compassion Closet is stocked with clean, standard clothing items that are provided to patients who lack appropriate clothing at discharge, often due to their arrival in an emergency state. The goal of the Compassion Closet is to ensure clinical staff at HMC have a reliable source of clothing items that they may access quickly, allowing patients to leave the ED with a sense of dignity and thus enhancing the patient experience. All gifts up to $20,000 will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to the generosity of Rose and David Friedlund.
Emergency Department Upgrade
In response to the growing need for emergency services within our community, Hillsboro Medical Center is embarking on a significant enhancement project for our emergency department. This upgrade will create a safer and more efficient environment, enhancing accessibility for both our patients and their families during critical moments. This initiative will empower us to effectively address the rising demand and offer rapid, efficient, emergency care to our entire community.
Dick Stenson Healthy Community Fund
Established in memory of Dick Stenson in 2023, this fund offers a range of support services for patients undergoing treatment at Hillsboro Medical Center. It provides gas cards, taxi, train, and bus tickets to ensure patients have access to care and a safe means of returning home after their discharge. The fund also covers medication costs for uninsured patients who are unable to afford their prescriptions, gift cards for groceries and other essential necessities, hotel accommodations for patients traveling for treatment or those without a permanent residence, and essential medical equipment and supplies.
Cancer Fund
Our cancer specialists provide world-class cancer care to Hillsboro and the surrounding areas, incorporating the latest medical advances. Your support contributes to the well-being of cancer patients through education programs, essential equipment, transportation assistance, and comfort items.
Employee Food Pantry
To address the problem of food insecurity for our staff, the Employee Food Pantry is available 24 hours a day for individuals in need. Your support ensures a consistent supply of essential food items and basic household necessities are available.
Employee Scholarships
On a quarterly basis, scholarships are awarded to employees seeking to expand their skills by enrolling in continuing education courses, seminars and conferences. Scholarships are available to both clinical and non-clinical staff.
¡Salud! Services
Your generous donation to ¡Salud! Services supports our dedicated team of bilingual and bicultural nurses and health educators who are committed to offering year-round, affordable clinical outreach services to vineyard stewards and their families. This vital program is entirely funded by philanthropic contributions and currently serves over 2,500 individuals annually across nine counties in the Willamette Valley.
Women and Children’s Services/NICU
Supporting our Family Birth Center and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hillsboro Medical Center, contributions to this fund guarantee top-quality care and enhanced patient comfort for both families and the newest members of our community.
