Two recipients of the Hillsboro Medical Center Foundation scholarship
2018 Tuality High School Scholarship Recipients

June 5, 2018 – The Tuality Healthcare Foundation offers scholarships to local outstanding high school students each spring who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and plan to pursue a human health-related career. Meet the 2018 recipients below!

Ruben Sanchez Flores, Jr.
Liberty High School graduate, Ruben Sanchez Flores, Jr. is the recipient of the Dr. Marvin J. Robb Memorial Scholarship. Ruben is currently a volunteer at the Tuality Community Hospital Information Desk, and is also a peer mentor to incoming freshmen who struggle academically. He is very involved with many community focused extracurricular activities including Key Club, National Honor Society and the Latino Medical Student Association. He recently finished an internship conducting cancer research at OHSU, and in 2017, gave a TEDx Youth presentation. Ruben’s planning on studying Biochemistry and Pre-Med at the University of Oregon.

Blake Lee
Glencoe High School graduate, Blake Lee, is the recipient of the Flo Rhea Health Careers Endowment Scholarship. Blake is a dedicated Eagle Scout and actively volunteers with his church. He is a member of the National Honor Society, a member of Glencoe’s Concert and Chamber Choirs, runs track and field, and participates on a competitive ballroom dance team. He is also a certified lifeguard and swim instructor, as well as a piano and ukulele teacher. He most recently participated in the OHSU Dental Exploration Program where he gained valuable hands-on experience in the field of dentistry. He plans to study Microbiology at Brigham Young University and attend dental school after graduating.
